Association for the Defense of the Rights of the Internally Displaced in Israel
Present
The First “Bridges to Roots” Summer Camp
July 3rd 2006
In order to ensure ongoing communication and interaction among the younger generations of the Palestinian communities in Diaspora, and for the purpose of entrenching the spirit of belonging to Palestine, as well as promoting historical awareness among Palestinian youth, and for preserving Palestinian collective memory and identity, our Institutes are currently organizing their first 10-12 day summer camp in July 2006 at the Sindibad Tourist Village (owned by a Palestinian Arab) in the Northern Palestinian town of Kabool inside the “Green Line” (Armistice Line), which is surrounded by the Arab towns of Tamra, Ruwais, Damoon, Mi’ar, and Sha’b.
The camp aims to gather young Palestinians (female and male) roughly between the ages of 14-17, based on their personalities and academic achievements.
We hope to get around 200 participants, who will be supervised by trained experts (in guidance and education), in a secure safe Arab environment surrounded by all-Arab towns and villages. The participants are to be distributed as follows:
- 35 from inside the “Green Line”
- 70 from the West Bank and Gaza Strip
- 100 from the Diaspora (expected to arrive on the 1st and 2nd of July 2006)
The participants from outside Palestine will be selected by PII, and those taking part from inside Palestine will be selected by the Association for the Defense of the Rights of the Internally Displaced in Israel. Fees: €1000 (for residence, food, beverages, trips, and transportation). For Registration, and further information, please contact PII.
